comment:I used this lens on a crappy sony a230 i was testing, and it gave me superb results. I never once felt the need to stop down for sharper results . My photos were tack sharp at f1.8! Something which has alluded just about every prime I've ever used so far. Most are abysmal wide open and continually need to be stopped down, and even then they still under perform! It is not until you get to f2.8 or more that you start seeing the results I'm already seeing at f1.8. The Sony 50mm 1.8 destroys the minolta 1.4 and 1.7 at similar apertures!
