positive:- Cheap w. excellent price v. performance.
- Nice bokeh.
- Very sharp wide open.
- Light.
negative:- Poor focus ring, I cannot really focus manually.
- Loud AF motor.
comment:This is the first lens I bought for its portraits. It is not a general walk-around lens due to focal length (for me at least), but excellent for portraits or low light conditions (if the space you're shooting in has room to move around).
People complain about the build, and it is indeed not very sturdy, but for an A2XX user it's a benefit that it so light. Overall good grade plastics do not bother me (and I would say they are average on this lens), and the focus ring does feel a bit flimsy.
Still recommend this lens if you feel you need this focal length: Excellent image quality also wide open, and best price if you want a lens at this aperture. I considered the Sony f1.4 but could not justify the price difference. Very happy with this lens.
