ownership:I own this lens

Minolta Beercan, 75-300 D
many others...

positive:IQ is much better than the Sony 18-70 kit lens and many Minolta kit lenses
negative:It is nothing special
comment:I got this lens with my A350 new as part of the kit when the A350 was being discontinued... it cost me nothing and I expected nothing from it. I've rarely used it.

However, I did test it. It feels cheap, but it is put together precisely and is fairly good optically. Overall, IQ is much better than the 18-70. It is more like the 75-300, but the 75-300 has longer reach, so why use this lens? My Beercan has still better IQ and is faster. This lens is smaller and lighter, but that's not really enough to impress me.

In summary, it is a pretty good lens, but nothing special. It certainly is a good mate to the 18-55mm kit lens, but I don't have one of those.
