ownership:I have experience with this lens
compared to:Canon FD 135mm f2
price paid:2400 AUD
positive:Brilliant colour. Outstanding sharpness. Fast glass and fast AF. Can focus in low light. Solid build worth its weight in creative possibilities
negative:Overweight for the light Sony A100, better suited to a heavier, professional FF body.
comment:I am switching over to the Sony system after 20+ years working with the Canon F1 and FD lenses. I invested in the Sony Alpha as I feel an electronics company with strong background in digital appliances will eventually emerge as one of the main players on the professional digital SLR camera scene. Plus I like Zeiss lenses and an autofocus 135mm f1.8 is pretty hard to ignore and an amazing creative tool for someone who shoots cars
As Canon dumped its superb FD range of lenses back in the 80s without offering an upgrade path I will not support them or their cameras.
