flare control: 5
|ownership:||I own this lens|
|price paid:||1600 CDN|
|positive:||Sharpness, especially micro contrast|
|negative:||Price (Only before I purchased)|
|comment:||I would have given a fractional rating (e.g. 4.5) for build if it was a choice , because of the common complaint of the fine pitch focus ring ribs. As it is not an option, I give it a 5 for build rather than a 4.|
I bought this in Feb 09 and it has been flawless.. I have yet to experience lens wobble described in older posts and that is after (my guess) about 60 to 90 hours of use.
Heavy, yes Expensive, Yes Little noisy, Yes... But the way it renders the rays upon the focal plane defies description by words.
I also like the lack of SSM as I can use it on the 700si for a roll or 2 of film from time to time.
If I were limited to one lens for the a850.. Far and away, this would be the one..
Edit - Loose front element noticed Mar 2010 - Sent for repair Via Henry's Canada Late July '10, Picked up Mid Aug '10, Covered under warranty. Dropped build to 4 accordingly
