comment:At 16 mm the extreme corners do not fully sharpen up, but at F8-F11 they are good enough while the majority of the image is very sharp. Distortion at 16 mm is substantial. At the long end (say above 24 mm) the sharpness at infinity reduces somewhat but closer up it is fabulous. I found this is a property it shares with many other wide angle zoom lenses. I prefer to use a shorter zoom in that range anyway.
