positive:Sharp, sharp zoom comparable to best primes.
Great colors, no resevations from my side.
Build quality is absolutely top.
Not noteable distortion
Flare in some situations right open, but stopped down a bit flare is not an issue.
negative:Heavy
Costly
Range
comment:I had a Sony DSC-R1 with a fixed, 14.3–71.5 mm Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T*, 24–120 mm equiv. which preformed very well. I changed to a Canon 600D, but was unhappy with both camera and zoom lenses 17-55 mm f 2.8 and 15-85 mm f 3.5-5.6. I then switch back to a Sony A99 mainly because of the CZ 24-70 and I haven't regretted a second.

It's a greate walkabout lens, always my first choise.
The lens is a heavy piece of equipment, it's costly and the range could be better, but the preformence of the zoom is second to non.
