positive:This is an incredibly sharp lens that focuses very quickly. Its colour rendition is excellent, and the lens's micro contrast is outstanding. I highly recommend it to anyone using a FF A-Mount.
negative:The distortion at 24 mm is significant but easily correctable. It build is excellent, but the use of plastics is irritating. The lens is sealing against the elements, but isn't advertised as being "weather sealed".
comment:I should have bought this lens when I bought the A850. Its sharper, faster than any A-Mount alternative, and has an outstanding colour rendition. Its sharp wide open, which isn't an easy accomplishment.

Its heavy, but it balances well with the A850. The focus ring, and zoom ring are well placed, though a little stiff, and seem to collect dust.

I especially like the steel hood, and I wish Sony would include this feature with all of its G-Series, and Zeiss lenses.

I'm not especially impressed with the use of plastics. The lens is sealing against the elements, but isn't advertised as being "weather sealed".
