positive:build quality, optical performance
negative:heavy, no macro
comment:Do not let yourselves been carried away by the zeiss hype. Much like every other ZA-class lens, this is not really a zeiss but rather a high-quality Rokkor manufactured using zeiss equipment and under the zeiss 'strict quality control'. No it is not as good as my ageing east German carl zeiss jena pancolar -a seventy years old m42 screw mount prime- which still provides superior resolution. Nevertheless this is an excellent lens. It’s image bears some similarity but it is much better to the Sony 24-105mm (another rebadged Rokkor), probably because it was designed by the same people. Cumbersome, heavy and extremely well build will outlive the cheap plastic build Sony. Am using the Sony for travel photography which is less demanding, this one for most of my needs and the Pancolar whenever resolution is a must.
Now you know.
