|ownership:||I used to own this lens|
|compared to:||Tamron - AF 18-200 F3.5-6.3|
Sony 16-50/2.8 (A-mount)
Tamron - SP AF 60 F2 Di II LD (IF) (A-mount, macro)
|price paid:||900 euro (new)|
|positive:||f/1.8 - and it's usable too (sharp enough and the DOF does not get too narrow).|
Secret feature: it doubles as a poor man's macro.
Lightweight, balances well with a small camera such as NEX-6.
|negative:||I'd expect a 24 mm fixed lens to be much shorter... (pancake).|
|comment:||This was my most used "walk around lens". Got some nice steet photos with it even at night - despite the lack of stabilization.|
Short min. focusing distance is an added bonus. This lens can focus down to the edge of the lens hood! Without sacrificing shapness.
It's not a real macro, thought. Due to the short FL, max. magnification is 0.25X. Yet it's capable of photogaphing faily small items. Even in not-so-good light! Much easier to use than a real macro lens!
