positive: | Character of the images taken with this lens are special. Sharp wide open in the centre (only) with nice bokeh. Few clicks on the aperture ring and plenty sharp into the corners. AF is good but not great on the A7iii. Eye-af is not perfect like my 1.8/85FE |
negative: | Nothing realy. Well, maybe it could have been better corrected for colour fringing & distortion for such a pricey lens. |
comment: | Unique IQ from a native 35mm Sony. I find it a bit big and heavy on the older models (A7s), but on the A7iii it feels OK. For me it thicks all the boxes; sharp enough wide open, colours, bokeh and a aperture ring. Yes, wide open to F/4 it can give colour fringing, but nothing a bit of post-process can not take care of. |

positive: | Image quality overall. The "feel" of the image. Colors and contrast: WOW Bokeh |
negative: | Big and heavy - but I knew this beforehand so I can't blame on that. Some CA in high contrast areas wide open - |
comment: | I didn't intend to buy this lens because of the size and weight (I like small gear since I shoot street photography for the most time) I thought I had enough with the Sony Zeiss FE 35 2.8, which is and EXCELLENT lens. But after seeing images taken with the distagon 35 1.4 I just fell in love with the rendering of this lens and decided this is precisely what I wanted. It is an outstanding lens with outstanding image quality. This lens delivers images with something really special, a unique character, specially shooting between 2.8 and 1.4. For indoor photography it is perfect also. |

positive: | Great rendering of the picture Sharp wide-open Good AF performance on a7rii |
negative: | Big and heavy High price. Easy to accidentally flipp the "Klick-switch" for the aperture ring and still missing a focus scale with hard stops, thats why I did not put a "5" on build rating |
comment: | I got the opportunity to test this gem for almost 2 weeks and this lens is just crazy! Image quality is outstanding, so also the price. For my taste it´s just to big and heavy weigh more then my a7rii, not a discrete lens, As I see it you get a f/1.4 lens to shoot at large apertures and this baby deliver the goods from wide open and on! Guess I might end up with one some day ;) |

positive: | Sharpness and bokeh right from 1.4. |
negative: | For me nothing. |
comment: | A pleasure to use the best lens I have. Wide open a little STF like, very nice bokeh, it's really makes the object stand out. |

positive: | Crazy Sharp, Bokeh |

comment: | This lens is the best 35 I have ever use, is sharp from 1.4 just like the marvelous Sigma and the great Zeiss FE 55 1.8. Why to paid more? Quite simple BOKEH and the 3D pop you get from every shot. If you can afford it go for it, is almost perfect. |
