ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Sigma 50/1.4 EX
price paid:1500 USD (new)
positive:On an a99ii, everything. AF speed and accuracy, even in the dark. Sharpness across the frame, even wide open. Good size and weight.
negative:Expensive. Someone somewhere wrote that there is moderate distortion, but I don't shoot subject matter where that is noticeable.
comment:Wow! It gets me shots I used to miss with other lenses. It has completely replaced my older Sigma 50/1.4 EX for dive bar concert photography— and I thought nothing could dethrone that lens! I still use other focal lengths, mostly wider. The extra pixels on the a99ii plus the sharpness of this lens let me "digitally zoom" by cropping, so I don't really need an 85mm lens anymore. If you have an a99ii, get this lens. You might not take it off the camera.
