ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Sony 75-300mm f4.5-5.6
Minolta 75-300mm f4.5-5.6 'new'
Sony 18-250mm f3.5-6.3
Sony 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 G
Sony 70-400mm f4-5.6 G
Tamron 200-400mm
price paid:£130 s/h
positive:Sharp, not too heavy, inexpensive.
negative:The focusing isn't as quick or quiet as it could be.

The front element rotates when focusing.
comment:Much sharper than either of the 75-300mms, the 18-250mm and the 200-400mm. For the price, it's a complete bargain - you have to pay much more to do better for an APS-C camera.

I have some great nature shots from it, both in the wild and at zoos.

The only reason I'm not still using this one is that the 70-300mm G is noticeably better - but not much better, optically - and is also usable handheld.
