ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Sigma 50-500 lens, both 70-400 Sony A-mount lenses
price paid:About 2500 USD
positive:Sharpness - this is by far the sharpest telephoto zoom I've used, particularly at longer focal lengths. Fast focusing with the A9. It focuses close enough to take semi-macro pictures.
negative:Nothing - Obviously it would be nicer if it weighed 100 g and was 20 cm long, but that isn't physically possible.
comment:I read a couple of very positive reviews of the lens before I bought it - the review by DxO was particularly helpful. Focus is fast enough to capture birds in flight even with the 1.4X telextender attached. For pixel peepers, I can report that you will see sharp pictures at 100% magnification with or without the telextender.
