ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Canon 70-200/4
Canon 70-200/2.8II
Canon 100-400II
Minolta 80-200/2.8
price paid:$2250
positive:+Sharpness at 400mm/5.6 wide open can match FE55/1.8 at optimal aperture.
+Previous reviews did not mention bokeh, which is a key feature of GM lense, and this lens is no exception. 100mm/4.5 gives nicer bokeh than I can get from other 70-200s
+Light weight
+AF is on par with competition (Canon)
+Good minimal focus distance
negative:-Medicore build quality, not same class as Canon, a lot of plastic used for exterior barrel
-Smooth/Tight setting is bothersome
-Much higher price than competition

comment:This lens is currently the only viable option for Sony E-mount for telephoto. I chose it over 70-200GM mainly for the light weight and the longer reach.

AF is fast but on par with competition, build quality is slightly questionable. Bokeh is exceptionally good for this spec, I won't hesitate to use its wider end to take portraits.

Smooth/Tight setting really bothered me a lot during my shooting at local airshow. Still prefer an eaiser implementation. The barrel will creep out even set at tight.
