ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Sony 135STF, Minolta 100/2, Tamron 90/2.8
price paid:
missing
positive:Bokeh, the rendering of out of focus areas is just stunning
Sharp wide open
Good AF
negative:Slow, it´s a T5.6 and needs lots of light or bump the iso up. Not a big problem with the a7rii, but still an issue in darker situations.
comment:For me this is a dream come true! I love the old 135STF, but it´s slow working since it´s manual focus. I like 100mm focal length better then 135mm. Eyefocus works great and the "focus hold" button on the lens can be assigned for this, neat!
On an e-mount camera the old 135STF with adapter is a few mm longer and it extends when focusing. The 100STF is internal focus and lens body is little wider then the 135STF, still 72mm filters. So a big lens compared to the 100/2.
Build quality and feel is great, even MF feel good. Aperture ring is de-clickeble with a small switch.
Balance feel good on the a7rii.
It´s still a matter of taste, some people don´t like the STF look/rendering others love it. I´m one of those who love it!
I dare to say that Sony might reach a bigger group of buyers with this lens than the old 135STF did due to being native E-mount and autofocus.
