ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Dunno, have never had such a great little lens before.
price paid:SEK 19990 ($2430)
positive:Sharp, very sharp over the whole zoom span.
Constant f4, means light to cary.
Great bokeh. Not as the STF but good enough.
Minimal ghosting/flare.
Minimal barrel/"pillow" distortion, easy to correct in PP.
some vignetting at wide end, but easy to correct in PP.
Haven't seen some chromatic aberration yet but might be under some shooting condition perhaps.
About everything else.
negative:No practical solution to use any kind of filter. Filterholders will bleed in light the back-way.
comment:Match perfectly with the 24-105 f4 for a lightweight walkabout or traveling. Unbeatable pair, 12-105mm in just two lenses, then add one more lens for 12-400 with the 70-400 SSM II or the 100-400mm beasts and you are covered for most shooting situations. Even macro as the 10mm extension tube works at 24mm and more with some other combo with the 24-105, still with AF. (below 24mm and the 10mm the subject has to be moved into the lens.)

Sony really got it right with this lens. Kudos.
