compared to:Sony - E 55-210 F4.5-6.3 OSS
Sony - FE 70-200 F4 G OSS
Sony - FE 70-300 F4.5-5.6 G OSS
Sony - E 70-350 F4.5-6.3 G OSS

positive:Sony has absolutely succeeded in updating the previous model. The lens is hard to beat in terms of versatility: Macro 1:2, compatibility with the teleconverters, lots of useful switches and incredible sharpness – even compared to “real” macro lenses. The biggest advantage from my point of view is that the greatest possible magnification can be achieved with any focal length. The picture-stabilization helps with handheld-shootings.
negative:In contrast to its predecessor, the lens extends when zooming.
Therefore there is a point deduction for “build rating”.
comment:Sharp, nice bokeh and light enough as a travel lens.
And – I can’t express it better than Albert DROS:
“It’s a lot of fun to use because of its versatility.”
Highly recommended!
