positive: | Image and video quality are very high. Colors produced are accurate. In servo mode zoom speed is variable and easily controlled. |
negative: | Awkward shape: the shape of this lens does not allow it to sit flat. Zoom creep: when set to manual zoom the lens extends quickly and noticeably. However, there's no lens creep in servo mode. |
comment: | This lens mates very well with Sony's E-mount A6xxx lines of cameras. It is designed primarily for video work but creates great photos as well. For video work the power zoom is excellent. In servo mode, the zoom speed is variable (H/M/L) and easily controlled. There's also a manual zoom option. Although I'm happy with the performance of this lens I find that I reach more often for my E PZ 18-105mm G than this one. This lens can be found with a circular or a rectangular hood. I got the rectangular one which, imo is better for video work and looks more professional. |
