compared to:Sony FE 3.5-5.6 / 28-70, Minolta 24mm f/2.8 prime, Minolta 28-85mm f/3.5-4.5
price paid:£849
positive:Very sharp, good contrast, minimal CA/fringing, constant f/2.8, light, compact, weather sealing, nice 18 point star bursts
negative:Mount is nice and tight making it slightly awkward with smooth barrel to remove lens. Firmware update with MAC difficult had to revert to old Windows machine.
comment:Delighted with this lens. It performs very well at f/2.8 (very usable at f2.8) even better when stopped down to f/4.I had originally planned to buy Sony 16-35mm f/4 but have lens which is just as sharp and benefit of f/2.8 for astrophotography. Distortion is well controlled with built in profiles.
