ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Tamron 18-200
Sony 50f1.8
price paid:459 EUR (new)
Great colors
Very ample range (18-250)
Almost always focuses right
negative:Slow focusing
comment:At first I bought the Tamron 18-200 (recommended by the store salesman), but the results were very poor (I have posted a review on this lens).
Decided to change it for the Tamron 18-250 based on what I read on this site (it costs twice as much as the 18-200) and... I could not be more impressed!! everything written here about this lens is true. The sharpness and the colors are a beauty. In certain conditions it has proved to be as sharp as my Sony SAM 50f1.8 lens, which I believe is considered a very sharp lens. On the end of the focal range however, it looses some sharpness.
Despide it cost twice as much as its predecessor (the 18-200), it is still a great value compared to the price tag of equivalent Sony Lens (16-105 and 18-250) which cost about 30% more.
