ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Minolta 75-300
price paid:160 USD (new)
positive:- Good range
- Decent build quality
- Surprisingly good macro performance
negative:- Soft wide open especially @ longer focal lengths
- Bad CA (purple fringing)
comment:Note: This review is not for the latest DI version of the lens.

I wanted to like this lens for telephoto but the softness and CA are just too much. I picked up a Minolta 75-300 and beercan which I end up using instead of the Tamron. It has surprisingly good macro capability so I'm using it for that until I get a dedicated macro lens.
