ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Minolta 600/4
Sony 70-400 G
Minolta 400 /4.5 with 1.4X TC
Sigma 500 /4.5
price paid:$1400 USD
positive:Can't beat the range/price/image quality ratio
Arca Swiss mount on lens foot
Multi-position zoom lock
Hand holdable, but I like to use a monopod or tripod when ever possible
Weather resistant
Fast to focus
Much easier to handle than a 600/f4, but then again, that lens is in a whole different league
negative:Slightly soft at 600 mm, but still very usable
Would prefer in lens VR
Too much plastic makes me wonder about the ability to stand up to heavy long term use
comment:This is a great lens for wildlife when I don't want to haul around the beast that is the the 600/4. Flare and distortion are non-existent. It is fast to lock focus, even in less than ideal lighting. Using it with the in-camera range limiter of my A77ii makes it even better.

They say you can't have reach and quality images at a low price, but this lens sort of blows that line of thinking out of the water.
