ownership: | I used to own this lens |
compared to: | Tamron 18-200 (ok, that's easy) KM 50/1.7 kit lens (easy too) |
price paid: | € 449 (new) |
positive: | 2.8 aperture, high resolution, sharp. Build is generally good |
negative: | Front ring to which filters and hood are to be attached, is flimsy. (Fixed by Tamron) |
comment: | Most of the time this lens was on my camera, it's my walk around lens. I'm thinking of trying a 16-80 CZ, not for sharpness but for versatility, one might miss the 50-80mm Apart from the flimsy front ring, I can't think of any complaint. It's sharp, even on extreme small aperture (for longer shutter times) it's fine. Distortions at short end are easily corrected, so is CA Zoom is fine and easy to use, a general Tamron remark AFAIK Note: I sent the lens back to Tamron. They fixed the front ring, cleaned it and adjusted it. Didn't have any trouble ever since. |
