ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Sony 50 f1.8
Sony 18-250 f3.5-6.3
price paid:250 GBP (new)
positive:Very sharp
Cost
Makes a useful portrait lens as well as a macro
negative:Its ugly! I hate the gold trim; it goes with absolutely nothing!
comment:Note for UK readers; as of this writing (Aug 2010), its available from Jessops for only £250, quite a bargain!

I have a detailed review of this lens (used with a Doff DAF-14 ringflash) at http://howgreenisyourgarden.wordpress.com/2010/08/04/review-tamron-af-90f2-8-di-macro-dorr-daf-14-sony-alpha-mount/
