Good manual focus control - lots of turn means easier to find the focus point.
negative:A little noisy.
Slow autofocus - too much hunting.
comment:Probably the sharpest lens I own. A true classic macro lens, it can also stand in as a decent portrait lens.. as long as you have software that can desharpen the image to make it more flattering :-).

The negatives are really negative for a macro lens, more annoyances when you use it as a non-macro.
