Sigma 75-300 DG APO
price paid:569.00 USD
positive:Constant F4
Solid build
Good balance, weight is even across the body
Fairly fast focus
Screw on OEM hood is wide and deep
negative:No focus limiter. Lens will hunt in low contrast/light conditions on occasion.
Screw on OEM hood can be awkward to use.
comment:I have the older "red ring" version. This is a nice lens, even if very rare. This lens takes very nice photos, even at F4. Stop it down to 6.3 or 7.1 and see it really sharpen up. It focuses fairly quick and the constant F4 is a big plus for me. I'd like to run the red ring up against the gold ring ver. to see how they compare. If you can find a red ring it might be worth your while to buy one.
