positive: | Sharp Solid Build |

comment: | Fairly sharp, really well built lens. Beautiful color, a little prone to flare. All in all it is a wonderful lens that I highly recommend. Edit: Got to spend a bit more time with this lens and have reduced my sharpness rating, everything else remains the same. |

comment: | This is a excellent ultra wide lens, this lens covers everything in a ultra wide lens on a full frame camera, its a unbelievable value for a lens of this kind of ability, its solid all across the board with no weakness, plan on spending $1000.00 plus to find a better lens. |

positive: | Great build, solid as a rock, still light Good balance with camera body Great sharpness and color |
negative: | Not easy to screw hood backwards onto the lens |
comment: | This is a fanatastic lens. It produces great colors, is reasonable sharp at f/3.5, very sharp from f/5. It looks and feels great mounted onto a camera body. The speed of auto focus is great for this kind of lens. Only thing to complain is the hood, when you try to screw it onto lens backwards. I usally need two or three tries to get it done. |

comment: | Great lens, worth every dollar I spent, though CA can get really bad when shooting into trees on bright days |

comment: | After my very positive experiences with the Tokina ATX 20-35 Pro zoom lens, I bought the 17mm Tokina prime also in the Pro version. The Tokina ATX 17 Pro is an excellent performer - it is razor sharp (at least as sharp as the Minolta AF50, but with a much more usable angle also on APS-C), provides a very high resolution, good contrast and good saturation in colors. Distortion is very low for an ultra wide lens (in fact even better or at least on-par with newer ultra wides). On APS-C this lens is much better than the Minolta AF16 (which however still is fun to use). Flare control is okay for an ultra wide. It is easy to see flares in the view finder, so I give the lens a high rating also in flare control. As most lenses it is not perfect wide open, but the degradation of IQ is in fact marginable. It performs much better than the Sigma AF10-20 (that is a modern design). I have shot very good images at ISO400 inside Churches in low light - and the images remain very sharp with good contrast and color even wide open. Can be recommended without any reservation. |

positive: | Sharp well built |
negative: | some slight distortion heavy man |
comment: | I really got a cheap used lense in acceptable condition. It is really good for wide angle shots, the iq is good. But it has some slight distortion on horizontal lines that can be noticed on some shots. The build quality ist massive, you could probably use it as a hammer. Full steel built it is quite heavy. It also needs big filters of 77mm. |

positive: | Well made with a solid construction. Good to excellent sharpness once it's stepped down a bit |
negative: | None yet |
comment: | I actually bought it and tested it on my Canon 30D. I was looking for one for my 7D but with no luck. So far real happy with it and glad to finally have a wide option for my DLSR purposes. |

positive: | Outstanding performance, easy manual focus, big DOF |
negative: | Slightly big/heavy |
comment: | ATX Pro version with 77mm filter diameter (there are several versions with different diameters). Flare spots are typical with this lens if a light source is in the scene, and come in a line across the frame like this image: http://www.pbase.com/image/66315931.jpg Its not too bad or distracting, and I have not seen any veiling/washout that some lenses suffer from. Very sharp lens and built like a tank, unfortunatly with the weight to prove it. Big clear DOF scale makes manual focusing easy, deep dof makes it easier yet. I manually prefocus with this lens and almost always get great sharp images. Very nice to use all around. No purple fringing seen, even in demanding conditions. Close focusing is important at this wide angle, this has opened up additional opertunities that I didnt have with the kit lens. VERY SLIGHT barrel distortion only seen in certain arcitectural situations with long straight lines. |

positive: | small, light, very nice bokeh, well built, good sharpness |
negative: | resolution at f3.5-4.5 could be better, very good after f5.6 |
comment: | This is a robust lens with excellent optics and sharpness when stopped down to f5.6 on. Fast AF on the 7D. It is very sensitive to flare when unshielded from the light. Image quality is also excellent. |
