ownership:I have experience with this lens
compared to:18-70 Kit Lens. Friend's Nikon AF-S 17-55 f2.8 G (L1000) worth. Tokina was certainly better made and just as fast.
price paid:L149
positive:Superb build quality and hence pride of ownership.Stunning improvemnent over kit lens.Develops muscles in left arm.F2.6/2.8 allows much more control and versatility. Increases excitement at taking photos. At its best using A55 balancing weight of lens. AF of A55 matches sharpness of lens.
negative:A bit of a macho lens. Not recommended if carrying heavy equipment is a problem.
comment:I was a little underwhelmed by my 5D using the kit lens and a shade concerned that my previous bridge-camera took photos that were nearly as good... until I bought the Tokina. The quality of my photos seem to have increased in proportion to the extra weight.
