positive:- Built like a tank, and very professional looking
- Great handling
- Excellent sharpness
- Doesn't extend/rotate when focusing/zooming
- Constant aperture (and it's a 2.8!)
negative:- Soft at 2.8 (still usable)
- Big and heavy
- AF/MF clutch very stiff (in my case)
- Have to take care of flare
- Lens cap is useless with hood on (should buy a new "pinch-type" cap)
comment:This lens is a big piece. Handles very well, it is very luminous, and produces very sharp pics from f4 onwards. The range on a 5D is about 42-110, which makes an excellent portrait lens. It's tough and sturdy, but has a very nice feel.

A real pro lens.
