flare control: 3
|ownership:||I own this lens|
|compared to:||Sony 18-70 kit|
Sony 50mm f1.8
|price paid:||270 USD used|
|positive:||Good coverage for my needs, very solid build, balances well with my camera.|
|negative:||Feeling a bit heavy on long walks/many handheld shots.|
Nasty flare when not using the hood and sun is in the frame.
|comment:||Very nice lens almost always on my A200. Very sharp after f4. I really cant find anything against this lens , the softness reported at f2.8 is not really something to complain of considering f2.8 I use almost only for portraits. |
Gonna give some points that could have been better - the weight - after a 2h walk you start to feel it. Focus mechanism doesn't work on my A200 , I still have to switch it on/off on camera. Flare control - the hood is a must , but the hood that comes with the lens does very good job.
