ownership:I own this lens
compared to:Nothing to compare to!
price paid:1.049,- € (new)
positive:AF not required thanks to the enormous depth of field, very good pressure fit front cap, data transmission thanks to electrical contacts, very solid appearance - built like a tank!
negative:No screw-in filter, no weather sealing, no AF, the susceptibility to light reflections in the picture requires a certain amount of familiarization with this lens.
comment:130 ° angle of view allow for exceptional shots, highly recommended!

positive:Communicates well with the camera, gives focussing distance in the viewfinder which is a first for me (this is my first electronic E-mount lens). Very well made, looks and feels all metal, solid and smooth. Sharp where it matters. Produces nice 10 point sunstars when pointed at the sun. Because it is only f/5.6 it is compact, practical and affordable.
negative:The extremes of the image are not as sharp as the rest of the image. However, due to the extreme wide angle nature this is to be expected and edge sharpness is better than expected. Can produce horrible flare when pointed at the sun.
comment:When I discovered a 100 mm filter holder that claimed not to cause vignetting on full frame I was sold to this lens. I wanted something wider than my 16-35 ZA and if you think 16 mm of FF is wide then think again. BTW the filter holder does vignet slightly on the short sides of the image.

positive:Extremely wide for full frame in a fairly compact format. Well corrected for straigth lines. Electric contacts for EXIF and focus assist.
Much better front cap than the 15mm Super Heliar.

For filmmakers this lens has a declickable apperture ring.
negative:Non-detachable lens hood makes it impossible to mount square filters like graduated.
comment:I own the brother to this lens, the 15mm Super Heliar but could not resist buying this to after a long fight with myself. I was worried that the extra 20 degree of FOV wouldn´t make that much different but it does. It is amazing to use this lens that really gives an extreme wide effect without curved distortion as on fishey or semifishey lenses.

It has to be used with care to get good perspective in eg architecture photography and also avoiding to get feet or parts of fingers and camera straps into the frame.

This is a beautiful lens in a fairly small housing giving an Amazing unbelivable rectiliniar wide angle effect on full frame cameras. Built like a small tank.

After some testshots with the lens I am a bit dissapointed but also satisfied at the same time. The sharpness is very good in the centre but in some circumstances poor on the edges. This is especially noticeable when photographing a flat field with grain. IQ on the other hand is very good overall when taking a pic of somethin with an interestimng centre and surrounding edges that is deliberately out of focus or does not loose on a bit unsharpness on the edges. For landscape pics where it is important to have the hole scene in focus the 10mm lens have a useful area that correspont somewhat to the 15mm lens. In all I would say center focus is 5 but edges is 4 giving an average of 4.5.

Update:
I have lately obtained a square filter holder from Vietnam that works with this lens. It takes 100 mm filters and makes it possible to use ND and grad filters without vignetting. It is not possible to tilt the filters at all for horizons that is not totaly horizontal.
