positive:Built like a tank. Will last for ever. Very compact. No need to focus once set up. Takes filters (58mm). Beautifull colour rendition. Sharp, Sharp Sharp, from edge to edge. Brilliant lens coatings.
negative:Vignetting which when corrected means added noise in corner shadows but keep the ISO low and it will never be a problem.
comment:NEWS FLASH...Holds it's own against the 16-35 f2.8 GM and beats it when a large peripheral highlight is in the shot.
This is not a fast lens like the Batis 18mm or the 16-35GM but it is razor sharp from edge to edge, has wonderful colour rendition and it has that elusive extra like the Leica 75, a look all of it's own. Flawed perfection, like the Leica, maybe, but the flaws are hard to find. Distortion is very well controlled and doesn't have any of the complex problems found in many ultra wide lenses. Fringing is remarkably well controlled as are flare artifacts. All in all a beautifully made, well engineered compact lens that is a pleasure to live with. It has been a long time since I have been able to say that I love a lens but I love this one. Still in 2020 my prefered ultra wide option. Highly recommended.
