flare control: 5
|ownership:||I own this lens|
|compared to:||Many lenses used in time|
|price paid:||~ 1450 USD new|
|positive:||Almost everything, but purely everything image quality wise. I love the character of this lens.|
|negative:||3 things (definitely not related to photography/image quality):|
1- Lens cap - not on par with Zeiss name
2- Lens hood - loosens very very easily
3- Aperture and Focusing rings too close
|comment:||The lens is very sharp even wide open up to the corners too. Colors are superb, after all it's a Zeiss.|
If you need a wide angle lens for landscape, interiors, architecture etc. then this is a must have lens. You will not regret having it. If you are looking for a "bokeh" lens, then this is not yours.
Being a manual focus lens it's a lot easier to use it than a AF one. It has a slight mustache like distortion but negligible and noticeable only on straight lines.
My only dislike is when mounting/dismounting the lens, you have to grasp both aperture and focus rings firmly which is unconfortable.
Overall I'm very happy with this lens and recommend it strongly.
