Olympus OM 28 3.5
Olympus OM 35 2.8

positive:Cheap
Constant aperture
negative:Not an attractive range on a DSLR
Just 2x Zoomratio
Get's beaten by the kitlens
Close focusing distance of 1 meter
Bad macromode
comment:It lacks sharpness, a usefull purpose or any attractive point... :( Got it in a package deal with a 7000 and a 70-210 f4.

For you DSLR get the kitlens, it's better...
Or a 50 1.7 if your into portraiture...
Or save a little for a 28-75 2.8...

Just don't buy this lense with money ;)

positive:Inexpensive and surprisingly sharp from f5.6 to f11. Good colors!
negative:Soft on f4 and some purple fringing seen on f4.
comment:A really good lens for the price. Much sharper at 70mm than the kit-lens from f5.6 to f11. On f8 almost as sharp as the 50mm/f1.7. Good colors.

positive:A good but not great lens that now sits in no-mans land in terms of focal length range but actually covers portraiture quite well.
negative:Nothing specific, other than it is now showing its age.
comment:A cheap second-hand starter lens for those who can't afford anything else. In this category would not disappoint. Remember that 35 with the crop factor gives an effective 50mm.

positive:still works like a charm after 17 years in service (I think that qualifies it as durable)
good portrait range on 7d
small and lightweight
negative:old -> low resale/trade-in value
comment:This lens may not have all the optimizations for digital (coatings, (D)-chip, etc.) but it still does its job well after so many years of service.
